Our honeymoon in St. Lucia and a rescue at sea

Well, our wedding and honeymoon are done and while we had so much fun spending all of that time together, it is so nice to be back in Los Angeles and home.

St. Lucia was beautiful and we enjoyed exploring the island. Of course our trip included things like snorkeling and other excursions, but the part I think we loved the most was the all-inclusive resort. I can’t imagine traveling to another Caribbean island any other way. All of our food and drinks were included so we could eat as much as we wanted. And boy, did we eat! We’re not talking simple burgers and sandwiches here people, we are talking about 5-star (in our minds anyways) restaurants. Our favorite was The Pitans Restaurant which served Caribbean cuisine. It was by far our favorite. Every meal we had there was amazingly satisfying. Their surf and turf included one of the best steaks I had ever had.

And of course there was plenty of adventure … including almost getting lost out at sea. We went on an excursion called the Joe Knows tour. Don’t get me wrong, the story of this adventure is not meant to discourage anyone from taking this tour. It was an amazing tour. It included beautiful views of the St. Lucian landmarks, the Pitans, natural mud baths from a volcano, swims in warm waters from a waterfall, a wonderful meal, snorkeling, and more. The adventure I am referring to  started on the way back from our excursion. One of our engines died and the weaker engine just was not enough to get us all back. With the waters getting rougher, the weather getting windier and the sky getting darker, it would have taken us many hours to get back. However, they filled us with a stronger version of the local rum punch so thegroup of 10 couples was somewhat content with the situation.

Eventually, they had to send a rescue boat for us. The rum punch did not help either as three of the guys on the tour has to pee. So what did they do? Jumped right into the ocean while the rest jumped over to the rescue boat. Once we were all aboard the rescue boat, we were off to safety, leaving the crew of the smaller boat in the distance. I wonder whatever came of them. They will live on in our memories.

We also got to explore other portions of the islands like the rain forests and Fort Rodney, which both gave us some amazing views.
