We are off to get married! Can’t wait to see you all there. We are well rested and excited.

Tip: Leave yourself plenty of time on Sunday

This is not really applicable for most of my family who will not be traveling past downtown LA on Sunday to get to the wedding location at the Altadena Town and Country Club, but mostly for our family and friends that live south of downtown LA.

As it turns out, Sunday is the NBA All-Star game and the game will be held at Staples Center in Los Angeles just off of the 110 freeway. Due to this, there is a strong possibility that you will encounter a good deal of traffic so we recommend that you leave early on Sunday to travel to the wedding and leave yourself a cushion to get there.

Remember, the wedding ceremony will start at 3pm.

Crossing our fingers for clear skies

Valerie just emailed me to tell me that Weather.com, which does forecasts as far out as 10 days, says there will be rain in Altadena on February 16. As you know, this is just 4 days before our wedding. So cross your fingers that this either does not happen or happens on time and does not last long.

If it rains, we will need to move the whole thing indoors. Of course, I would be perfectly happy with rain a day or two ahead of the wedding. That means the mountains view would be very clear. But ON the wedding date is a no-no.

The Home Stretch

Nineteen days, how did we get here so quickly? As the days race by, I am ever grateful for David’s love, support and patience. He has made this entire journey easier for me. It is clear to see I found the perfect man to marry!

Flowers are selected, tuxes picked, dress getting bustled, and vendors standing by. Venue is ready for us, and still as beautiful as I remembered it. I can’t wait for all our guests to see this place. I can’t believe that the next time I will be there is on my wedding day.

While I am looking forward to the happy days ahead, I’d like to ask you all for some prayers as well. My uncle Bobby is in the hospital, in serious condition. Please pray for him, my family, and all the doctors and nurses working around the clock to keep him with us. He is such a giving man, and I hope to hear more of his jokes in the future.

In sickness, and in health

Over the last week, David and I have practiced one of out vows…caring for each other in sickness!! David is on the path to recovering from his bad cold, and I am in the thick of it. My problem is that I’m not a good napper, so just sitting put is boring! But, David is the best, bringing me juice and tissues despite him not being 100% yet. I am just glad we got sick now than closer to the wedding! With 39 days left, we are ready to recover and start tackling a few projects to get everything ready for the big day!

A Happy New Year

With the clock striking midnight, we are now 50 days away from our wedding day. I am sitting and enjoying my first cup of coffee of the new year, and reflecting on what is to come.

The year 2010 flew by, and brought many exciting changes. Now 2011 promises more happiness to come. I am so happy that David and I get to be married so close to the start of the year, so we can spend the majority of it as husband and wife. We have had a long road getting here, but I think it is safe to say we are both ready for this natural step in our relationship.

The next big things on our to-do list are: look at music selections, finalize flowers, put together the favors and seating cards, tweak the timeline, continue to collect RSVPs (don’t forget to send yours in!), and pack for our honeymoon. Ok, maybe I am ahead of myself on that one!

I wish you all a happy and healthy new year!

All Systems are GO!

If you are reading this for the first time, odds are you have received your invitation! It is a good thing I double checked that all the invites had stamps! Well, after a few days of unbelievable business and yes, a little stress, I am breathing a sigh of relief that this important task is done.

I hope you all find the site easy to navigate and the RSVP tool easy to use. I am so proud of my husband-to-be. I watched him spend a lot of time developing and caring for our website, much like he cares for me and our relationship. I am so lucky to have someone who listens to all my hopes and fears and tries to do all he can to make me happy. I can be a handful sometimes, but David is constantly supporting me, even if it is just by giving me a hug.

So, now that invites are hitting mailboxes across the country I guess the wedding is really happening. The next few months will likely be very busy, so I’ll update when I can. Goodnight world!

Time keeps on ticking…

Several months ago, I thought about all the time I had before our wedding and felt pretty much under control. Sure, there were tasks to accomplish, but I would not be one of THOSE brides who flip out over every little detail. I guess part of me is still laid back in a way, but the practical side of me realizes how many small tasks there are and how quickly time moves forward.

Simple tasks such as making time to shop for a pair of shoes, or playing with some crafty ideas for a few Do-It-Yourself touches seem to fade off into the distance as more realistic jobs fall into my lap. No wonder some women start planning from the day they get engaged and don’t stop until the trip down the aisle…there really is enough work to make it last! It is important to just take everything one step at a time, and focus on the result. Lucky for me, at the end of this journey I get to start married life with the man of my dreams!

So, on the plate for the remainder of this month are invite preparation, table numbers and seating cards, and finding the perfect pair of wedding shoes! If I have time, maybe I’ll throw in some Christmas shopping too 🙂

The new website is live!

Finally, the new website is live. Everything is pretty much done, except you won’t be able to access certain sections like the gift registry or RSVP area until we are ready for you to do so.

We will also be adding more pictures and videos as we get them. Do you have good pictures of us? Send them to us so we can share them. Check back often for lots of updates.

Personally, I am very happy that the site is live for the world to see. So much work went into it. And hopefully the online RSVP area, once available, will be simple for everyone to use. That will be the primary method to RSVP for our wedding.

The new website is coming along nicely

Our new wedding website is coming along nicely. We hope to have it up and running shortly. We are just trying to dig around for some decent photos of us through the years.

The site will have some information about us as a couple, wedding information, a photo gallery, lists of things to do in the area, and of course our online RSVP system for out guests. Be green and RSVP online! At least I hope you do. I put a lot of work into it.

I can’t wait until it is up and running.
