Christmas is finally here! I am so glad that David and I are lucky enough to have some time off for the holidays. Everything has been a mad rush the last few weeks with work, wedding planning, and getting ready for Christmas. Oh, and don’t forget the solid week of rain we had here in LA.
While we do have plenty of things to do over the next few days,I’m looking forward to having a little down time. One of the fun things I get to do is my hair and makeup trial! I have a few ideas on hairstyles, but makeup will be interesting. No ideas there! Maybe I’ll come out in full mime makeup, or clown makeup… Guess you will all be as surprised as me on Feb. 20! 🙂

The dress is in! It fits perfectly with no alterations needed that I see :). Can’t wait to show it off for you all! Now to find a good pair of shoes…

We are now three months away from our wedding! I am really happy that things are finally starting to come together, and I have a better idea of how the day will look. I’m sure I’ll still be surprised at how everything will turn out, but I am glad it is really reflecting our laid back nature.
Now that all the big ticket items are taken care of, the attention turns to the little details. I am actually excited to go shoe and accessory shopping, although it is hard to do without having seen my dress in about three months. Â It should be in the store in a few weeks though! Â Hm, maybe I should call to make sure… In any case, the shoes are probably more important to me than anything else I’ll wear that day. I already know my dress is comfortable, but I’m going to be walking, standing, and dancing in those shoes for most of the day. Â Plus, they have to be a certain height so I don’t need to adjust the bottom of my dress. Horray for saving money!
David is still toiling away on our website. I must say, it looks GREAT! He’s such a talented man, and I’m glad that he’s in charge of this important part rather than me! Â I think it will be really easy for you all to use. Watch for its unveiling soon!

On Friday, Valerie and I will be the happy guests of my cousin’s wedding. You better believe that with our big day approaching fast, we will be looking for any ideas that may present themselves.
I am excited for my cousin and hope his wedding goes flawlessly. With everything apparently coming together for our wedding, and this being our first wedding as guests since we got engaged, we are taking advantage of every opportunity. Of course, we will be enjoying ourselves, but we may discuss the flower arrangements or color scheme with each other once or twice. I am certain it will be wonderful. The happy couple deserves the best.
By the way, his wedding is “I Love Lucy” themed which is just super creative if you ask me. I can’t wait to see what they came up with.

Watching Valerie try to come up with colors and a theme for the wedding is confusing to me. I wish I could help out more, but if it were up to me, the wedding colors would be red and gold and have ninjas. Good thing Valerie has more sense than me.

It seems that everyone liked our “Save the Date” magnets. That design was all Valerie. I was a bit hesitant at first, but they appear to have been a huge hit … once people figure out what it is.

A little over four months to go… wow! Â Time has gone by so fast, and there is still so much to do! Â But, as usual, we aren’t stressing it. Â I know that everything will come together. Â Now that we are back from our vacation (booooooooooooo), we are fully rested and ready to start planning again. Â There are only a few vendors left to book, and some creativity to unleash. Â Luckily, we have received some wedding invitations from friends and family that will help us in the inspiration department.
One area I’m excited to start working on is the ceremony.  I have tons of ideas, and will be working with David and our officiant to come up with something perfectly in tune with our personalities.  You only get married once, and we want to have an amazing experience.  I’m sure it will be 🙂

With just under six months to go… We are feeling good about  how everything is shaping up!  There are only a few more vendors to book and then we can start working on ALL the little details.  I guess that is what happens when you put your mind to something!
Now we can focus a bit on something very fun… VACATION!! Â David and I work very hard, and haven’t taken a real long vacation at any point that I can remember. Â We only have a few weeks to go until we are Hawaii bound! Â And when we come back relaxed, refreshed and tanned, look for lots more wedding updates!

Like me, Val comes from a very loving family. So loving in fact that her mother would do anything for her. At a bridal show that her mom attended with Val and two of her bridesmaids, there was a contest during one of the fashion shows. Mothers of the brides were asked to be as loud as they could be in order to win their daughter a $125 gift certificate toward the flowers at their wedding. Always ready to step up and do what is needed for her daughter, Val’s mom, Maria, jumped up yelling, spinning and jumping around. Needless to say, she won the prize.

August 8th, 2010 Comments Off on Wedding shows: What should a guy expect?
By David Bonilla
For days, I have been trying to figure out what to write about for my first entry. It is tough to write about wedding planning from a guy’s perspective. After all, the guy’s biggest job is to make sure to show up to the right place and to show up at the right time. A wedding is really for the girl, right? It is their time to shine. The focus should be on them and we understand that. We are fine with just signing the checks and leaving the decision on flowers, decor, and other such things up to our better half.
