A lot done this past week … including our Honeymoon reservations

It was a busy week off but I think we felt like we got a lot done. And no matter how busy, it is still better than being at work so I can’t really complain too much.

One of the bigger things that we got done was our Honeymoon reservations. So our trip is booked and my bank account is a little lighter. Our travel location?

Beautiful Saint Lucia, an island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea. It met a number of the criteria that we were looking for.

  1. Relaxing tropical beaches.
  2. Beautiful scenery to take pictures of with my new camera.
  3. Things to do and see around the island when we do not want to just be lazy by the water.
  4. Out of the country.
  5. Somewhere we have never been.
  6. Good food.

We will be staying at an all inclusive Sandals resort so it should be a lot of fun. I am going to eat all of their food. I just need to make sure to get my telephoto lens before then so I can put more pics on my photo site, QwikFocus.com.

We’ll try to keep the blog updated too while there so you can share the joy with us. If there is time. Maybe.

Oh yeah, and Happy New Year!

A Happy New Year

With the clock striking midnight, we are now 50 days away from our wedding day. I am sitting and enjoying my first cup of coffee of the new year, and reflecting on what is to come.

The year 2010 flew by, and brought many exciting changes. Now 2011 promises more happiness to come. I am so happy that David and I get to be married so close to the start of the year, so we can spend the majority of it as husband and wife. We have had a long road getting here, but I think it is safe to say we are both ready for this natural step in our relationship.

The next big things on our to-do list are: look at music selections, finalize flowers, put together the favors and seating cards, tweak the timeline, continue to collect RSVPs (don’t forget to send yours in!), and pack for our honeymoon. Ok, maybe I am ahead of myself on that one!

I wish you all a happy and healthy new year!

All I Want for Christmas

Christmas is finally here! I am so glad that David and I are lucky enough to have some time off for the holidays. Everything has been a mad rush the last few weeks with work, wedding planning, and getting ready for Christmas. Oh, and don’t forget the solid week of rain we had here in LA.

While we do have plenty of things to do over the next few days,I’m looking forward to having a little down time. One of the fun things I get to do is my hair and makeup trial! I have a few ideas on hairstyles, but makeup will be interesting. No ideas there! Maybe I’ll come out in full mime makeup, or clown makeup… Guess you will all be as surprised as me on Feb. 20! 🙂

All Systems are GO!

If you are reading this for the first time, odds are you have received your invitation! It is a good thing I double checked that all the invites had stamps! Well, after a few days of unbelievable business and yes, a little stress, I am breathing a sigh of relief that this important task is done.

I hope you all find the site easy to navigate and the RSVP tool easy to use. I am so proud of my husband-to-be. I watched him spend a lot of time developing and caring for our website, much like he cares for me and our relationship. I am so lucky to have someone who listens to all my hopes and fears and tries to do all he can to make me happy. I can be a handful sometimes, but David is constantly supporting me, even if it is just by giving me a hug.

So, now that invites are hitting mailboxes across the country I guess the wedding is really happening. The next few months will likely be very busy, so I’ll update when I can. Goodnight world!

Time keeps on ticking…

Several months ago, I thought about all the time I had before our wedding and felt pretty much under control. Sure, there were tasks to accomplish, but I would not be one of THOSE brides who flip out over every little detail. I guess part of me is still laid back in a way, but the practical side of me realizes how many small tasks there are and how quickly time moves forward.

Simple tasks such as making time to shop for a pair of shoes, or playing with some crafty ideas for a few Do-It-Yourself touches seem to fade off into the distance as more realistic jobs fall into my lap. No wonder some women start planning from the day they get engaged and don’t stop until the trip down the aisle…there really is enough work to make it last! It is important to just take everything one step at a time, and focus on the result. Lucky for me, at the end of this journey I get to start married life with the man of my dreams!

So, on the plate for the remainder of this month are invite preparation, table numbers and seating cards, and finding the perfect pair of wedding shoes! If I have time, maybe I’ll throw in some Christmas shopping too 🙂

The new website is live!

Finally, the new website is live. Everything is pretty much done, except you won’t be able to access certain sections like the gift registry or RSVP area until we are ready for you to do so.

We will also be adding more pictures and videos as we get them. Do you have good pictures of us? Send them to us so we can share them. Check back often for lots of updates.

Personally, I am very happy that the site is live for the world to see. So much work went into it. And hopefully the online RSVP area, once available, will be simple for everyone to use. That will be the primary method to RSVP for our wedding.

In the Double Digits!

We are now three months away from our wedding! I am really happy that things are finally starting to come together, and I have a better idea of how the day will look. I’m sure I’ll still be surprised at how everything will turn out, but I am glad it is really reflecting our laid back nature.

Now that all the big ticket items are taken care of, the attention turns to the little details. I am actually excited to go shoe and accessory shopping, although it is hard to do without having seen my dress in about three months.  It should be in the store in a few weeks though!  Hm, maybe I should call to make sure… In any case, the shoes are probably more important to me than anything else I’ll wear that day. I already know my dress is comfortable, but I’m going to be walking, standing, and dancing in those shoes for most of the day.  Plus, they have to be a certain height so I don’t need to adjust the bottom of my dress. Horray for saving money!

David is still toiling away on our website. I must say, it looks GREAT! He’s such a talented man, and I’m glad that he’s in charge of this important part rather than me!  I think it will be really easy for you all to use. Watch for its unveiling soon!

The new website is coming along nicely

Our new wedding website is coming along nicely. We hope to have it up and running shortly. We are just trying to dig around for some decent photos of us through the years.

The site will have some information about us as a couple, wedding information, a photo gallery, lists of things to do in the area, and of course our online RSVP system for out guests. Be green and RSVP online! At least I hope you do. I put a lot of work into it.

I can’t wait until it is up and running.

We will keep our eyes open at Friday’s wedding

On Friday, Valerie and I will be the happy guests of my cousin’s wedding. You better believe that with our big day approaching fast, we will be looking for any ideas that may present themselves.

I am excited for my cousin and hope his wedding goes flawlessly. With everything apparently coming together for our wedding, and this being our first wedding as guests since we got engaged, we are taking advantage of every opportunity. Of course, we will be enjoying ourselves, but we may discuss the flower arrangements or color scheme with each other once or twice. I am certain it will be wonderful. The happy couple deserves the best.

By the way, his wedding is “I Love Lucy” themed which is just super creative if you ask me. I can’t wait to see what they came up with.
